Persons holding a valid permanent visa and returning Brazilian citizens who have remained over 12 continuous months overseas, can import their household goods and personal effects duty-free. Brazilian citizens and returning foreigners with a permanent visa must show proof of continuous residence overseas providing customs authorities with either of the following documents, in order of preference; a) a certificate of residency issued by the Brazilian Consulate, b) school records, c) employment records, d) utility bills.

Persons holding a valid temporary type V work visa can import their household goods shipments and personal effects duty-free. They are required to re-export the same shipment on termination of their visa.
